My Story

Learn Upholstery from Someone Who Actually Does It

My name is Dustin, and I’ve spent years working with furniture — reupholstering sofas, rebuilding cushions, repairing frames, and doing the kind of hands-on work that most people never think about until something breaks or wears out. We Love Upholstery exists because good information about this craft is hard to find. Most of what’s out there is either too vague to be useful or written by people who’ve never actually held a staple gun. I built this site to change that.

What You'll Find Here

This is an educational resource — not a sales pitch. Everything published here comes from real experience in the trade. Whether you’re a homeowner trying to save a favorite piece of furniture, someone curious about DIY upholstery, or a professional looking to sharpen your skills, you’ll find practical, honest guides covering: How to reupholster sofas, chairs, and cushions Foam types, fabric choices, and what actually holds up over time Spring systems, frame repairs, and structural fixes Vinyl work, commercial upholstery, and booth seating Tools, techniques, and tips that make the job easier No fluff. No filler. Just upholstery knowledge from someone who does this work.

Why Upholstery Matters

Most people replace furniture when it gets worn out. What they don’t realize is that most of it can be saved — often for a fraction of the cost of buying new. A sagging sofa cushion is usually a foam problem. A wobbly chair is often a simple frame fix. Torn fabric on a dining bench takes an afternoon, not a new bench. Once you understand how upholstery works, you start seeing furniture differently. That’s what this site is about. Teaching people to see the potential in what they already own, and giving them the knowledge to act on it.

The Mission

The name We Love Upholstery isn’t just branding — it’s the truth. This craft takes patience, a good eye, and real problem-solving. There’s something satisfying about taking a piece that looks finished and turning it into something clean, comfortable, and built to last.
The goal here is simple: share what I know, keep it practical, and help as many people as possible get more out of their furniture.

A Special Thank You

A Special Thank You A big part of why I love this craft comes from watching it done right from an early age. My grandfather, owner of Roberto’s Sofa Factory, showed me what real upholstery work looks like — the patience it takes, the pride in doing it properly, and the satisfaction of a piece done well. This site is built on everything he helped me see in this trade. Thank you, Grandpa.
